Re: Summer Update from the 7th/8th Grade Team
Dear Parents and Scholars,
We are very pleased to have you as a member of our learning community for the upcoming school year. We hope that you get lots of rest over the summer and stay safe. We wanted to let you know of a few resources available to you to use over the summer.
First of all, we try our best to take advantage of all the latest technology to reduce waste and improve communication. You will find that we will be updating our classroom blogs and regularly checking email throughout the summer. Please drop us a line, so we can add your email address to our listserve.
Our blog addresses:
Ted’s class: http://tedsclass.blogspot.com/
Lindsey’s class: http://sciencefdnsc.blogspot.com/
Tom’s class: http://robclass.blogspot.com/
Email Addresses:
ted@fdnsc.net, lindsey@fdnsc.net, tom@fdnsc.net
If you have questions or concerns over the summer, please use these resources to contact us.
In addition, we know it is just the end of the school year and hardly anyone is thinking about school supplies, but we wanted to let you know we have already ordered school supplies for next year. You will not need to shop for school supplies. Your child will be supplied with the following items:
Notebooks, notecards, Post-its, dividers, binders, and paper for all the core (Language Arts, Social Studies, Math and Science) classes.
A middle school binder with dividers, a planner, a pencil pouch, highlighters, and four pencils.
A new portfolio binder with dividers to showcase all of their hard work throughout the year.
If you would like to supplement these supplies with additional items: pens, pencils, gluesticks, etc. that is your choice. Please supply your child with a library card for research trips to our local libraries. The cost for these supplies is $30.00. Please make checks payable to FDNSC. If you need assistance, please contact one of the teachers above, if you can sponsor a child, please think about providing additional funding. We also need help with raising money for field trips.
If you can help to supplement classroom supplies, you will find wishlists at our individual classroom blogs listed above.
Interested in a fun, relaxing way to add educational activities to your summer? Consider some of these ideas:
* Go to the local library (check out Ted's selection of teen authors on his blog!)
* Visit the WNC Nature Center
* Get a book of logic puzzles
* Follow the elections
* Enjoy one of our local hikes and enjoy the natural world through the eyes of a scientist
*And don’t forget, we will have a historic election come November.
If you are a returning family, thank you for all the support you have given to FDNSC. If you are new to the community, welcome.
Sincerely,
Ted, Lindsey, and Tom
